In many ways, at least from the tourist's point of view, Manhattan is a sorrowless oasis within the post-industrial world. Here everyone is nice and pleasant, and the 'city that never sleeps' offers every possible kind of recreation, day and night. The city is also a centre of art, music, theatre, and science, and with Central Park, it is also an outstanding green paradise. In addition, the contrast between 'the green' and all the modern, elegant, and beautiful skyscrapers makes the city unique.
